After facing a HUGE backlash from veteran and military service organizations, President Obama has dropped from consideration a plan to force private insurance companies for pay for the care of veterans with service-related injuries.

In a statement released by the White House, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stated that “the President listened to concerns raised by the VSOs that this might, under certain circumstances, affect veterans and their families’ ability to access health care. Therefore, the President has instructed that its consideration be dropped.”

I would like to personally thank President Obama for making such a good choice and understanding that going forth with the plan would have severely hurt our wounded troops’ care. Because of this great decision made by the Commander In Chief, I am not longer considering the possibility of ending my military service – not that anyone would really care anyway.

  4. Good job Mr. President, I may not like MANY of your choices, but at least you listened to sense this time.

  5. I told you so…

  6. Be advised that a third party insurance billing policy does exist for all military retirees and their dependents that have commercial medical insurance. As an example, the BC/BS group policy through my employer, which I pay 66% of the bi-monthly premium, is billed at the local commercial (NOT DoD cost) rate every time either my wife or I receive out patient care at the Redstone Arsenal, AL Fox Army Clinics.

  7. Yes good god Mr. President a sound decision FINALLY
