UPDATE – Many thanks to everyone who have helped with this. I know times are tough. I’m only $100 away from sending off all the coffee and cookies, but I’ve already shipped several packages. I included a short note asking if they could take a moment to email or send a photo of the troops enjoying these care packages to share with you, so I’ll publish those when/if I get them. Thanks again.

I got a call this weekend from the manager of the Starbucks where I get the donated coffee to send overseas. I didn’t even realize they were doing a troop donation drive until she called me. There was tremendous response, which is both good and bad.

The good is that they have nearly 350 pounds of coffee for me to send out that was donated!!! The bad is they have nearly 350 pounds of coffee for me to send out that was donated!!!

This sort of comes at a good time as I’ve just received the first shipment of Girl Scout cookies we purchased a little over a month ago. The next shipment comes in about a week. I’ve been packaging the cookies in large boxes with some of the coffee I have left over from the December batch that I ran out of money to send.

I have nowhere near enough money to ship 350 pounds of coffee anywhere. By USPS standards if I ship priority, I will need $500 and about $350 by parcel post, which takes forever. I have money to send the cookies, but not the coffee. Can you help?

Here’s what you can do:
1) straight donations using the Paypal link on the sidebar in any amount (credit and debit cards accepted, as well as eChecks)
2) sending a personal check or money (email me for address)
3) bid on fundraising auction. I will be putting some items on eBay (mainly autographed military books) in support of this effort soon.
4) ask your friends, neighbors, fellow parishioners, and co-workers to do one of the three above

As soon as I hit the $350 mark, I will update this post and call a cease-fire! Just so everyone knows, I use my own money as well during these, so I don’t always ask other people to bear the full burden. As an NCO, I would never ask someone else to do something I’m not willing to do for myself. Thanks for all you do to help me with these in advance.

And, again, thanks to the people at Starbucks and the citizens of the Tennessee valley for helping support this effort!

I’m have a great day too. After 9 long years in the courts, we finally beat the BATFE.

    • Bob, that’s awesome! I am NOT a fan at all of the BATFE. You want to talk about a blatant violation of our civil rights – look no further than them! They could almost be classified a state-sponsored terrorist organization. Good onya, mate!

      • I absolutely agree. The big thing is, even when confronted with irrefutable science, that APCP burns a a rate slower than the explosion threshold, they still did it. They didn’t care. They even dropped 2900 pages into the judge’s lap a year and a half ago. And it was 2900 pages of fuzzy math and double talk.

Here’s one you’ll like. In 2004, they, along with DHS, believed that we could shoot down an airliner with an off the shelf kit and engines. Mind you, these things have NO guidance systems. Those are illegal. So, they tried to launch one out of a van.

They couldn’t even launch it. They wound up burning their rented van to a crispy shell. And this was after a well respected scientist computed the odds of even hitting an airliner at 125 trillion to 1.

  8. Mines on it way. Also sent emails out to friends and family as well as posted on Facebook and Myspace.
