A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
The name of this site is “A Soldier’s Perspective” so I’d like to give you just that.
Why do we fight? What makes a person volunteer to place himself in situations in which bullets are flying over his head and could possibly die? I think that the answer is freedom. I know personally, I want EVERYONE to enjoy the freedoms that I enjoy in this country (at least for now!). I would never expect the media to understand this concept. So, I didn’t find this article too surprising:
Just 150 Afghan voters dared to go to the ballot box in the area of Helmand province where British soldiers sacrificed their lives to secure a safe election day, it was revealed yesterday.
The figures were released as the British Ambassador to Kabul admitted that troops could be engaged in combat in Afghanistan for five more years.
What these people don’t realize is that most Soldiers would give their lives to give even ONE person the chance to vote. Voting is such a fundamental reflection of true freedom that trying to weigh the number of votes cast against the lives it cost to cast them is simply ignorant. I bet you that the 150 Afghanis who defied the Taliban to cast that vote are very thankful and aware of those Soldiers’ sacrifices. They died for the very freedoms they signed up to protect.
Unfortunately, what isn’t mentioned anywhere in the article is the fact that those 150 votes are 150 votes MORE than the Taliban would have allowed! And that is a 150% improvement that our troops have assured! Instead the spineless British Liberal Democrats (kinda sounds like some of our own) would rather diminish this effort to a “pathetically small” accomplishment. It’s a shame.
God bless my British brothers and sisters out there risking their lives to bring the freedoms we enjoy to those to whom the concept is alien. Your sacrifice is not forgotten or underappreciated here!

What is the The Price of Freedom if our Government run Health Care system (The VA) can’t take care of those who won freedom for others in the past?
We’re proud of the job our military has done to bring free elections to these emerging democracies. It’s a noble and often understated accomplishment. And today, thanks to the Wounded Warrior Hotline, miracles have happened for our clients.
I’m sorry for a little thread creep here, however, you know our mission at PDN. A well oiled Wounded Warrior Holtine cannot serve a disabled veteran from another time. We’ve just hit a brick wall with the VA and it could cost the life of a retired 20 year Army veteran. Should that be the Price of Freedom after honorable service to our nation.
Please visit http://www.patriotwatch.com/SFC-Wrede.htm Your suggestions, offering any contacts you might have or just a “keep your chin up” message to SFC Frederick “Mac” Wrede would be appreciated. We will never give up, we will never forget and we sure as hell won’t ever turn our backs on a veteran in need.

Thank YOU, CJ for a nod to our British troops. They ARE near and dear to my heart.;)
What I am sure you already know is that the British media is every bit as sad, pathetic, lazy, and yes wilfully ignorant etc etc as the msm here.
And thank YOU, Dave for standing up for our veterans. It is disgraceful that this kind of crap continues.
