A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
I’m sick and tired of the double standard in this country that is slanted AGAINST Christians. How long do we have to coddle Muslims because we’re afraid of offending them lest they fly another plane into a skyscraper. If Christians began committing blatant acts of terrorism, would we start to get respect too? Would the politicians in this country stop attacking our Christ and start protecting our rights to pray in school? Muslims get to wear their religious apparel and get prayer times, but Christians are relegated to the closet and I’m fed up with it.

Comedy Central has decided to lower the bar even further by stepping up efforts to mock and defame Christians! They recently announced that they are developing a cartoon series about Jesus Christ called “JC.” According to Comedy Central, Jesus will move to New York city to “escape his father’s enormous shadow” and to live a normal life.
The network says that God will be portrayed in the show as an “apathetic” father, obsessed with playing video games.
Just two weeks ago, Comedy Central censored South Park’s depiction of the prophet Muhammad after intense Muslim protest, yet they have a long history of ridiculing Jesus Christ and Christians in the very same show.
This directly mirrors the way the liberal media have treated Islam and Christianity for years. While going out of their way to respect Islam, they relentlessly attack and defame Christianity and the 80% of Americans who call themselves Christians.
I’m fed up with this double standard … and hope you are too.
These days when Judeo-Christian values are under almost constant attack from the Hollywood elite and the left-wing media who brand us as racists, hate-mongers and radicals, it’s time we take a strong stand and let our voices be heard!
From the Media Research Center has a petition up right now that needs signatures from fellow Christians who are as fed up as I am. The petition states:
I strongly oppose Comedy Central’s plans to air a new television cartoon series entitled “JC.”
Based on Comedy Central’s long history of mocking Jesus Christ and the Christian faith, it is clear that this show is intended to further denigrate a religion practiced by 80 percent of Americans.
There is a very clear double standard in the way the media and the popular culture treat Islam with respect and deference while mocking and ridiculing Christians and Christianity at every opportunity.
I urge Comedy Central and its parent company Viacom to cancel their plans to air “JC”.
And if you have a few bones to throw their way, please do. Yet another reason I won’t watch Comedy Central ever again.

Until you’ve lived the life of a straight white Christian male American- you have no idea what it means to be ‘profiled’.
Most people (including many of the above mentioned swcma) just need to learn to get over shit, and stop trying to make people pay for what happened 10, 50, 100, 1000 or more years ago.
Steve
It’s even worse when you’re Catholic, because then you get to experience anti-Catholic bigotry from other Christians.
CJ
Even worse than that is being Mormon.
Steve
I’m from a big city in the northeast. I never knew any Mormon’s until I was in the army. They seemed OK to me. Oddly enough, it was also in the army that I personally experienced anti-Catholic bigotry for the first time.
CJ
I’ve never noticed anti-Catholic bigotry, but it could be because I”m not Catholic. Being a Mormon, though, I’ve had to deal with a commander that was a Baptist and made it clear what he thought of Mormons.
Semperpapa
As a Catholic I have not experienced any bigotry personally.
The antagonism between Christians is what is exploited by Muslims.
Even with their differences, they have one thing in common: they all want us dead.
As far as Comedy Central, maybe we should start threatening violence. Unfortunately, that would be considered hate speech, while the Muslim’s threats are a 1st Amendment right.
That’s the PC cancer that is killing us.
Steve
I never did in the Northeast, but the South and Midwest are a completely different story. Have you never had a Chick Tract left where you would find it?

We get them here too. Usually around Samhain/Halloween. Occasionally at Easter too. Or if there’s a big gaming convention in the area.

Trust me, you have no idea.
Try being straight, white, male, and Pagan.
I have a scar on my forehead about 1 1/2 inches from my right temple. My hair usually covers it.
I was visiting my friend who opened a “New Age” book store. She’s the sweetest woman you’d ever want to meet. Very kind and very gentle. You all know the kind. Took in stray animals and cared for them, got them adopted out… always a smile and a kind word for everyone.
On a Saturday, I helped her open, and we were just sitting there, having some tea. 20 minutes after she opened, there was a bullhorn blaring outside. I walked outside to see “Burn the Witch” and “Drive out the heathens from our town” signs, led by the pastor of a small local church.
(She had the bookstore in town for years. She had just moved to a different location, is all.)
Ok, we decided, we’ll be nice. It was a very hot day, so we brought out a cooler of ice, put a case of bottled water, still sealed, in it, and left it outside with a small sign that said “Free” on it, and went back inside.
Two hours pass. Bullhorn still going. Then, a loud crash. The cooler came flying in through the window, ice, bottles, and all. I walk outside to look, and then I’m on the ground bleeding. Somebody whacked me with a 2×4 with a protest sign attached to it. Left me with a number of stitches and the scar.
So yeah, tell me about it. You think you’re religion is ridiculed? Try listening to “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” all the time, and seeing a look of absolute hatred in someone’s eyes.
CJ
Bob, tell me where they live and i’ll give them a good old fashioned Christian avenging! THAT is not Christian, though it sounds like KKK tactics.
Bob The American
No, CJ. Its done and over with. Several of them went to jail for varying periods of time, and the pastor was replaced a month later with a much more tolerant one. As far as I’m concerned, Kharma paid them back. Anything more would be unbalancing it again, and I have enough problems without that.
I appreciate the thought though. I should send you down south. There have been a number of incidents this year with Wiccans/Pagans finding their pets on their doorstep butchered. That, to me, is the lowest of the low.

So, what is the religion of peace doing to promote peace?
This week alone:
Jihad Attacks: 149
Countries: 18
Religions: 5
Dead Bodies: 701
Critically Injured: 179
Is anyone keeping tracking the “good” they have done? Thought so, couldn’t find any.
Steve
Hey CJ,
why aren’t you asking this guy for proof to support his claims?
CJ
Why aren’t you?

Two things to add into the conversation from a civilian fan of the blog.
1. Comedy Central is also the station of South Park. Which makes fun of Islam, Judaism, and pretty much any organized religion. Furthermore, Comedy Central supported Draw Mohammed day which really freaked the Islamic world out. Pakistan ended up blocking Facebook and Youtube because of it. So, I wouldn’t claim that Comedy Central is just picking solely on Christians. They are an equal-opportunity basher of religion.
2. There is a documentary on Islam called What the West Needs to Know. Its very interesting in that it makes it clear that through the Koran and other religious texts of Islam, violence and “martydom” are the norm and encouraged. The contention that Islam is a religion of peace is a fallacy. I’m not certain if its 100% accurate, but it definitely gives some interesting information to research.
