TheUSReport.com has a headline up that reads, “Michael Yon invited by Brits and US to embed again.” The story quotes an email sent to the author of the article:

Yon’s email on Thursday said, “And all this nonsense about my being disembedded for OPSEC… Have been invited today by British and U.S. military.”

I find it highly suspect that the military is actually SEEKING out reporters for embeds. Yon – and this reporter – make it sound as if he was personally invited by the United States and Britain to embed with their militaries. Most likely what happened was that Yon applied for an embed with both countries and was accepted. That’s hard being “invited” as a reporter. No one is rolling out a red carpet for a has-been correspondent who repeatedly puffs his own chest with comments like “I’ve deployed more than 90% of the military!”. Really? He has yet to produce those facts while demanding them from other milkooks like the boys at Blackfive.

I’d like to see this “invite” from the U.S. and Britain. If true, I’d like to know why these militaries are playing favorites with embeds. Of course, we all know that isn’t what is really happening. Is there all of the sudden a lack of overcrowding in the embed system that Yon is being sought out? Maybe he waved his magic wand and made them vanish. More likely, the military got tired of his whining and gave him a breast to suckle so he’d stop complaining. We can only hope his embed will be with the 31st Cooks Battalion in Kandahar reporting on the state of meals, ready-to-eat. (Disclaimer: There is no 31st Cooks Battalion.)

This is far more bizarre than Yon’s highly embarrassing appearance on the G. Gordon Liddy show incessantly trying to dominate the conversation with stupid, irrelevant quips to Blackfive’s Uncle Jimbo of “have you ever been to Afghanistan?” as if the boys at B5 make up their stories. Matt and Jim get their information from the same place Yon gets his – emails and personal testimony from the Soldiers in the thick of it! By Yon’s standards, NO ONE should be talking about Afghanistan unless they’ve been there. It’s absurd and the interview in which Liddy is forced to mute Yon for refusing to let Jim speak without interrupting him is proof that Yon is out of control and childish.

However, I have to give kudos to that large head of Yon’s. He’s feeling pretty high on the horse and taking credit for all the high level firings going on in Afghanistan. But his insatiable appetite for revenge for being disembedded doesn’t stop there. He’s now calling for the head of Rear Admiral Gregory Smith. According to his Facebook fan page, the all-power Yoz states that Smith “cannot handle the information war.”

Which information war is that? The one that Yon is fighting with veterans and troops who write blogs?

  1. After listening to the G Gordan Liddy exchange with Michael Yon i would not want him anywhere near Afghanistan let alone the 31st Cooks Battalion.

I have seen and heard folks like this and it never turns out good until they figure out what the core issue they need to deal with.

I wish Michael the best in life and when he makes it to the other side of thinking, I hope he takes what he learns and helps others that are dealing with the same issues.

  2. You guys need to get over Yon,,,he’s gotten under your all’s skin and it shows a lack of professionalism.stop whining and do your jobs.

    • Hey, Pete. Why are you commenting from Austria? Are you trying to pretend to be an American to establish credibility?
