A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004

Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, now Republican Representative from Florida, has done it again. He sent a letter to his constituency today saying things most spineless politicians lack the willpower or intestinal fortitude to say. Finally, there is a leader in Congress is not afraid to call it like he sees it and call to the carpet those that are ruining this country through fiscal irresponsibility and incompetence. I simply HAVE to share the contents of his letter because I still find it hard to believe these words were actually uttered from a Congressman. I’m proud to serve in the same organization that spawned this great leader.
To the Citizens of the Twenty-Second District of the State of Florida:
Over this past week I have watched and listened to Members of the House of Representatives from across the aisle.
I am appalled at their arrogance, belligerence, and dishonest rhetoric filled with empty emotional platitudes. Have they no shame in realizing that their inept, incompetent failures are the reason why we are debating this continuing resolution. They failed to pass a budget during the 111th Congress.
Have they no honor in realizing that their fiscal irresponsibility over the past four years has resulted in our standing on the precipice of a fiscal canyon from which we may not recover?
Also troubling are the events in the state of Wisconsin which mirror those that happened in Greece several months ago. We are witnessing the abject hostility of a unionized entitlement class that is being lauded by the liberal left, seemingly to include our President.
It is such a critical time for our Republic, yet there seems no visionary leadership – it is as if American stopped producing adults. I have never seen a greater assembly of petulance and sophomoric behavior as what I have witnessed this week on the floor of the House of Representatives.
To those across the aisle, please explain to the American people how your economic policies have created a better environment for long term sustainable growth.
This debate is about jobs and the economy.
It begins with remedying the spending problem on Capitol Hill. It includes tackling the burdensome taxation and regulation policies strangling our country. It is the understanding that Keynesian tax and spend policies did not grow America’s economy, but the indomitable, entrepreneurial spirit of the American People.
Government sets the conditions for job and economic growth, it does not create jobs.
I am pleased that we are having open debate in the people’s house. However, there is clearly something lacking in this discourse – the recognition of the failure of the bureaucratic nanny-state liberal policies.
Rest assured that I will do everything in my ability to stand firm and lead on the principles that make America exceptional.
Very Respectfully,
Allen B. West
Emphasis mine. *Standing ovation
I love that line, “it is as if American stopped producing adults,” because it is so true. We see politicians refusing to even come to work because they don’t want to vote on a bill they’ll probably lose. So, instead of honoring the constitutional process of that state, they hold it hostage. It’s pathetic and I just think Representative West hit it out of the park with this one.

Finally!!!!!! We’ve all been waiting for someone to speak the truth. I applaud every word in that letter. It couldn’t be more true. I hope the other newbies will show the same backbone.

Allen West! I just love him..would love to see him as POTUS!
MSGT Fact Monger
If the assertions West made were true I’d be the first to grant he KUDOS. Pitifully the rhetoric is indicative of either ignorance or self delusion.
Ever heard of TARP? The devaluation of the US $ is the result of CDO MORTGAGE derivative SCAM that MOODIES gave an AAA+ rating to.
And what do unions have to do with the entire manufacturing base being outsourced? If they had any power NAFTA wouldn’t have happened and GM et al wouldn’t have needed a bail out.
Clearly facts have nothing to do with West’s BS.
What he may be correctly alluding to is that NEO-LIBERALISM and VULTURE CAPITALISM have, and continue to doom USA and the planet to premature extinction, a la radiation exposure, etc.
Of course sociopaths relish the prospect to depopulation since they expect it not to happen during their lifetime and that it shall only happen to the other guy who cant afford a fallout shelter with 20 years of nonperishable provisions, antibiotics, etc.
