All the service portals suck. I think the only ones with reliable access to the systems who can find ANYTHING worthwile are the comm specialists and contractors who run them.

my name is audra and i have recently been scamed by someone claiming to be captain/sargeant ben butterfield. he sent me a message to fb saying he was looking for the love of his life we talked for about 5 weeks and he said everything i wanted to hear . i have been married for 19 years and my marriage has issues so i fell really hard for this man . i also told him that i have a child with brain cancer and he played to be very concerned about that on daily bases . i thought this person was really interested in me . i was wrong and now feel like an idiot for even talking to him. he says he has 3 kids and that his wife passed away in an accident with his brother and now his brother is disabled. he says he is currently deployed to afganastan and that he wants to talk to me so i sent 230.00 to get him a phone and then he said he needed 480.00 more to get the mast code for it . i refused and he said i didnt care about him he kept asking me to get a loan so i could send the money to and then he could prove he is real . i now know thanks to my actual military friends that all soldiers are given an ako #. when i ask him for this he said he didnt want to talk anymore cause i was listening to people instead of him . i was ! thank god . he put myself and my child thru unnesasary pain and my child has enough to deal with fighting daily for her life. not only did he use this soldier’s info. but he took from a very sick little girl. this person needs to be stopped some how and i am doing my best to find the actual ben butterfield to let him know how his info. is being used for this purpose. the pictures he sent r of a gorgeous man who i fell completely for and thought i was getting to know him for him. he says he will be home in july and will be retiring after that . i traced 2 ip addresses and they go to sunnyvale california which also happens to be where the yahoo home office is . he gets to you thru fb and then ask you to unfriend him on there and talk to him on yahoo. this person just made me know that i needed to do what i needed to about my marriage and i did but in the process he almost cost me my kids and grandkids whom i love dearly and took from my sick child for this purpoose i will not let this die. that is as low as a human can go in my opinion. i really want to find this ben butterfield and stop these people from ruining the reputation of a soldier who has worked so hard for it and has given so much for our country.he doesnt deserve this . please help me if you can . his page is still on fb and im sure he is still using this mans info.lets work together and stop this JERK! there is more to this story but it would take all day to put in all that we talked about and i dont have it today for today is chemo day and i am busy with my daughter but i will talk with whom ever would like to more . THANX FOR YOUR HELP!

Audra, I too have been contacted by this guy. He was on an internet dating site. He asked me to email some strange email address asking for a phone connection. He did tell me there was a fee but I did a search on email finders and it couldn’t be found so I didn’t email them.. I’m so glad I didn’t. He sent me probably the same photos he sent you. Of course he said the sweetest things. I only talked to him for one day. I knew about scammers on some of the sites so when he told me he was deployed, some red flags went up. I have searched peoplefinders.com and couldn’t find anything but he said he lived in Columbia ,S.C. so I did a white pages search and he was on there as well. I kinda felt quilty for doubting him but my gut just wouldn’t rest so then I stumbled onto you. I can’t believe it. His children’s names are Amanda, Michael, and Seth..right??
I don’t know how to stop him..how could anyone use an US soldier identification for this purpose..I dated a military guy for 3 years who was deployed and put his life on the line. It infuriates me!!

OMG I just talked to this Ben Butterfield just a few minutes ago and I had a feeling he was a fake…
And he told me that same story about being widowed and all….the address in South Carolina is actually pinned to a real address….and believe it or not….the home is actually owned by a Butterfield….but this Butterfield is a Doctor and is married to a Critical Care nurse…
The red flag that came up…was his curiousity when he didnt offer much information about his military career and then he was taken back when he found out that I am a former military wife…….
Maybe we can put our heads together and get this man off here…..cuz its insane….he was on Plenty of Fish and deleted his profile quite quickly…..he has made contact with me twice and I tried to see if the info I had recovered matched any that he offered and NOPE it sure didnt….cuz the Butterfield family has ties to Virginia and this man made no mention of it…….
So Audra I am so sorry and Tonya….don’t you think it strange that if someone being in the military would put up a full photo with an address attached cuz he told me that his couldnt disclose his unit….but today he told me that Fort Jackson was his home base …..

Brenda…I just felt a little leary and googled him because he contacted me off a dating site and I am being asked to send money via western union to get him a phone to call from afghanistan. I felt something was not right. I just haven’t said much about that to him but he told me today he is in love with me. I feel very hurt by all of this. what soldier can’t pay to get their own damn phone to talk to you? email matches the same….and everything
i feel stupid for talking to him. he knows things about me now and what do i do about it?

He is very good but he is not real. I actually told him off and asked which name I should address him by…”Joe, David or Ben”? and he got angry…I did report him and the email he used with me to the Army CID.
Did you keep copies of your conversations? I would start to do that….and maybe call the CID and report it cuz he is impersonating a soldier number one and scamming as many women as he can.
I actually told him that he was a coward and he wasn’t a man.
I feel very bad that you are going thru that….but you need to examine how much have you told him and seriously I would report it to authorities….
Do not feel foolish at all cuz there are many women and man for that matter fall for scammers.
They know all the right things to say and prey on the emotions.
Just know that you are not the only one he is doing this too…..

Wow…this man is busy, i have been in contact as well. David butterfield96@yahoo.com.met him on match. Same story…need to im on yahoo , i got hes from tx, divorced 13 yrs, had a son whom he lost 7 yrs ago in car accident. Im the love of his life, bla, bla. Hes very poetic actually, hasent asked me for anything. I brought up the scam thing he begged me to trust him, and to set up my web cam so i can see him.. i have picks he senr if any body wants to see them, or if someone has pics to share id be interested.

Also the company email is tadirancommunication@gmail.com they ask for your name address phone number, phone service provider and the wire transfer is to a Melissa Warner, Purceville, VA 20132 how can I get this guy stopped? This is crazy!

Get it all documented and report to the army CID….they will file a report…there is probably not allot that can be done but also by all of us sharing all this on the this website can help others ……
My friends always said I had a unique investigate side and that how i came across allot of the info…and its all on the internet…even as far as Europe….

I know that the CID asked me if I thought he was interested in what my former husband did in the service especially when I told the CID what unit had been with……………….
Soldiers have the ability to contact family stateside…and there is absolutely no reason for him to need a phone……
This scammer is a COWARD ! Ohhh If I may add I also did tell him that I reported his ass to the CID ….

omg!!! i just recieved the same exact letter!!! he is on speed date .com now…what a jerk..i sent him an email about myself..nothing too personal..but right after i sent it i had a feeling something didnt seem right..thats when i tried to look him up on facebook..and i found all of you!! i feel bad for all of the women he has scammed that dont have access to finding out about someone…thank you so much for posting this…i would not have sent him money but it bothers me knowing someone is portraying a hard working military man..if there is anything i can do please let me know…i dont know alot about computers but if i canstop him i will help…thanks…laurie

I am Iming with Ben right know. I cant believe he is a fake but should of known he sounded to good to be true. He hasn’t hit me up for money yet but I was really leary of his wording during IMs and emails. So to find out this is a scam doesn’t surprise me awhole lot. I have kept every communication we have had. Guess I’m going to throw in the towel on this one. I hate to hear about those of you who didn’t find out about this until too late and to know someone is abusing our service men like this is despicable. Audra, I am really sorry that someone would do this to you knowing all you are going through. I am praying for you and your daughter even though your entry was in April. I hope all is well.
